One more week...

So I know it has been so very long since I wrote on here but life here has been very busy. I have wanted to spend more time with the people here. I have been very humbled being here, there is so much more to learn about God and the Bible.
Since I last wrote… a few of us went to Murcia on a mid term break, it is a beautiful, quaint little city. We saw some amazing sights. There was an old town hall that was absolutely gorgeous; a huge eerie catholic church… this thing was insane it had a tomb in the middle of the choir section. The last day we were there, there was a nation wide protest, it was crazy, and the streets were dead. Oh and the 2nd day we were there, we say a parade, it seemed to be Alice in wonderland themed, but there was people dressed up in Madagascar costumes, super Mario, doctors, and lots of dancers. We had a blast.

Since we got back, time started to fly… we are coming into our last week here. I am so very sad. The weather is getting much warmer and we are all tanning, and we go swimming most everyday and it is wonderful. Leaving here will be bitter sweet, but it is time, I have made some absolutely amazing friends.

Week 5

Wow it has been so long since I updated this… I am sorry. Lots has happened. I hiked up a mountain and made it to the top. I was really happy. We got lost and took a detour but we could see where we needed to be. So we eventually made it :). Then we had 2 amazing instructors come and teach us about the book of James and the book of Judges. There is so much to learn in Judges. I had never guessed that the stories of the Old Testament would relate to my life now. During this time (it was last week) we had a mini soccer tournament and with 8 teams and 4 players on each team. The teams were Canada, the US, Germany, France, England, China, Italy, and Spain. I was on Spain, we had our teacher Graham on our team, he was 68 and was still so good at playing the game. We came in 4th out of 8 teams. And I scored the PK it was crazy and there was so much pressure but I got it!!! It was great. Saturday we went to Alicante and did lots of shopping and had a lovely Italian supper :). This week we have been learning about Creation and science. It is so interesting. We learn about dragons and Dinosaurs… it is so fascinating. And yesterday…Valentines Day… was so amazing. The 5 guys here put on an amazing dinner for all of us 26 girls. All of us dressed up, took pictures together and then had supper. We could not see what the guys were doing in the dinning hall, but it was so great.   When we went in the room was lit by candlelight, and had red tablecloths. We each had a place with our name card and a real rose. They served us and they first gave us homemade Caesar salad and Garlic toast. Then they gave us pasta (heart shaped pasta and spaghetti) with meat sauce, and then they gave us no bake cheesecake in a bowl with a chocolate dipped strawberry. And they made it all. It was so sweet; they even did all the clean up for us. It was so lovely.

Beginning of Week 2

So here we have this one chocolate called milka and it is amazing… everyone has some form of chocolate or candy here… it kinda sucks. The weather is pretty chilly during the morning, but it warms up a bit in the after noon… yesterday the hot water heater broke and so we have no heat or hot water for showers. It is not good. And people are getting sick which is really not good. One guy has tonsillitis and the other has a bad cold…. No heat doesn’t help.
I love how cheap everything is here. Food is our big buy because we get so hungry during class so on break we all go snack. Luckily it is fairly inexpensive, but it does add up.
The time is starting to fly by.

Week one :)

I have officially been here one week. It doesn't feel that long at all. The weather has been cool up until today... its so warm. We are able to wear shorts and t-shirts.

I have learnt so much this week. We learnt where the Bible came from, (how we got it), we learnt how to study the Bible and what questions to ask. And then we started studying the book of Philippians. We have also done a few prayer walks and spent some time together as a family.

The beach is so beautiful. I spent all siesta there. It was cool but so beautiful. I miss my people but I know this is going to be absolutely amazing.

The country of Spain is very unique. It has the highest divorce rate, the worst economy, and the highest unemployment rate in all of Europe. We say a guy roller blading by in just a thong on the beach. It was a shocking sight. there are all kinds here.

The food so far has been amazing but really healthy. My roommates are a blessing to me.

Right now we are off to the Alicante Castle for the day so I am so excited. I will keep you posted as time goes on.

3 days to go...

For the most part I am packed. I have a few odds and ends to pack up, and some stuff that I will be using for the next few days. Other than that I am ready. I have 2 suitcases, and both are over 40 pounds, one is 40lbs exactly, and the other is 48.7lbs. I really hope i m allowed 50lbs suitcase or Im going to have fun trying to decide what is not a necessity. It will be an interesting expeiance living out of suitcases for 4 and 1/2 months.

Physically I am (almost) ready, but it still doesn't feel real. But I guess reality will hit soon.

Before I leave...

So I asked a few people if it would be completely dorky to do a blog, and my answers were I should do it, and "yea do it" so I guess I will. :)
I'm leaving on thursday so it is coming crazy fast... and I still have to pack. Oh well all in good time I guess. I am really nervous, yet extremely excited as well. I have been talking about going for a year, and now its finally here.  Oh well, I will keep you posted as to what will come.
